Professor James Trussell, FIAPAC USA board member 2016-18, sadly passed away on 26th Dec 2018 at the age of 69.  He will be remembered for his outstanding contribution to advancing womens reproductive rights and health across the world. In particular for his work on the effectiveness of contraceptive methods that helped improve womens  access to emergency contraception and highly effective methods of contraception.

During his board membership of FIAPAC, James made an important contribution to planning the scientific content of the congresses in Lisbon and Nantes. He was tireless activist for reproductive rights of women and was a key author of many papers on the safety of  medical abortion accessed over the internet by women in settings where abortion is restricted or illegal. Recent publications  on access to medical abortion over the internet  from women in Ireland , that he  co authored provided key evidence to the Irish Government that informed recent legal change in the country. FIAPAC will sorely miss the  this inspiring individual.
